Great design is feeling that the world is limitless; it makes you feel invincible, incredible...full of life. There's a joy that comes from looking at, interacting with, losing yourself in a finished design, whether it's a website or logo. For me, it's the striving toward that goal. I want people to stop in their tracks...I want MY breath to be taken away.

School?

I dropped out of school over a year and a half ago, having gained employment for the very thing I was going to school for.  And now, it seems as I get older, I actually would like to have a degree.  For me, going to school has always been a stop/start/falter/ah-screw-it experience.  I find it difficult to listen to the younger generation’s ineptitude when it comes to learning; if you’re there, put away the cell phones, stop texting your girlfriend and pay attention!  Some of us are paying a pretty penny for all this!

    hello there!

    When someone asks me, "Who are you?" my immediate response is "Designer." I know that's an odd answer to that question; it sounds like it should be the answer to "What do you do?" But designer is my identity; it's what breaths life into me. I'm often accused of working too much but - and I know this sounds trite - how can it be considered work when it is the essence of yourself? I am never satisfied with where I'm at and am forever pushing myself to be a better designer, often at the risk of harming my personal relationships (but hey, I've got my design-ness to keep me warm).

    Splurge, for Nikki?

    This week, I’m going to splurge and give myself and early 30th birthday present.  A brand spanking new pair of Frye Boots.  I suppose the theme this month is Cowgirl Western and all the shitkicking I can give - yeehaw!
